MIT Pi Lambda Phi
Massachusetts Theta

Not Four Years, But a Lifetime

The Massachusetts Theta chapter of Pi Lambda Phi was founded in 1897 and continues to hold a strong presence at the Institute today. As the first non-sectarian fraternity, Pi Lambda Phi welcomes all men of all creeds. Brothers pursue academics, extracurricular activities, and social life with vigor, and we take pride in the strength of our brotherhood.

Instead of recruiting people who fit a particular archetype, we're looking for exciting guys who bring something new to our house dynamic. We're a group of brothers who, different though we may be, are striving together to be more and developing bonds that last a lifetime.

450 Beacon St, Boston

We are located a short walk away from the main MIT campus in Boston's historic Back Bay neighborhood. The Boston East Saferide also stops less than a block away on Mass Ave and Beacon St.

Why Rush Pilam?

Pilam's founders established an organization for "all men of all creeds." More than a century later, this basic tenet endures as the bedrock of our fraternity.

Our brothers hail from 14 different states and 4 foreign countries and are majoring in 9 different majors. Even with such diversity, we discover that what we share are the truly important values:

  • Strength of character
  • Commitment to self improvement
  • Binding loyalty to each other

At Pilam, we form friendships that last "not four years, but a lifetime." Come find out what you've been missing.

If you have any questions about our fraternity please contact our Rush Chairman, Tim Nguyen.

Our House

The Pilam chapter house is located along the river on 450 Beacon St. The four story brownstone offers a magnificent view of the Charles River to the north, and downtown Boston to the south.

Inside the house, you'll find many amenities, such as a full-sized pool table, grand piano, HDTV with DirectTV cable, and numerous games including an arcade machine. Our rooftop offers an amazing view of the MIT campus throughout the year.

In addition, our library contains many of the required textbooks for classes, as well as many a good casual reading. For dinner, our chef cooks a host of food ranging from steak tips to Italian bolognese.

The most important part of any fraternity is its network of brothers and alumni. With our diverse group of brothers you'll be able to find someone to have a good time with, regardless of whether you're interested in partying, gaming or anything else. However, especially as MIT students real life is not just fun and games. For academic, professional and personal concerns, you'll always be able to find someone in the brotherhood to turn to.

While not everyone will be able to come by 450 Beacon Street, we can all participate with an annual donation. Any donation will be greatly appreciated: $25, $50, $100, $250 or $450.

Please give whatever amount you can. Our goal is 100% participation from all alumni on an annual basis. The money will be put to good use under the stewardship of the 450 Beacon Street Corporation and will serve to fund the newsletters, fund reunions, enable improvements to the physical plant, and strengthen the corporation's reserves. Additionally, your donation will serve as a vote of confidence to the undergraduates and many other dedicated alumni volunteering their time and energy into constantly improving Pi Lambda Phi Mass Theta.
